August 2016 Photographer of the Month – Mark Swinford
Mark Swinford is the winning photographer of the August 2016 Photographer of the Month competition! Three of his entries from the August 2016 BOM competition were judged and chosen by Richard Mayfield of top UK pro-lab Premier Image and Chris Harper FBIPP, Chief Executive of British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP).
Mark’s studio is based in Horsforth, 5 miles north of Leeds city centre. The studio has been established for over 25 years and is family run by Mark and his wife Tracy, along with a small dynamic team of 8 staff.
Mark’s work was selected to be displayed on the TV programme “One Born Every Minute” when it was filmed in Leeds, alongside many other local exhibitions. The well-equipped studios are air-conditioned and easy accessible via public transport and by car, with off street parking adjacent to the studio building.
Mark has been a photographer since leaving school. He started his career in Medical photography and also with one of the leading portrait and wedding photographers in the county, training and then moving onto being a fully qualified photographer. He now specializes in portrait photography after moving from the South of England to the North. Among Marks qualifications are 2 City & Guilds, qualified in the MPA, BIPP, SWPP & CrGoP, plus membership of two invite only exclusive groups of some of the best portrait photographers in the country.
Mark’s passion and commitment to his craft has enabled him to take the best from his classic training and blend it with the latest creative techniques, with the help of a young go-ahead team of staff around him who are always changing, re-inventing and keeping the studio style fresh and at the leading edge of photography.
