Congratulations to Robert Longford who has secured his first winning entry of 2021 in the August & September Baby of the Month competition!
His entry of Mia was popular with our Mum and Sponsor judging panels, and Mia will soon receive a £100 Boots voucher, plus the chance to win £5000 in the 2021 Baby of the Year competition.
Robert opened his studio in 2006 when he returned to the Isle of Wight after a career in the telecoms industry. “The Isle of Wight was a fantastic place to grow up and I really wanted my own children to enjoy their childhood as much as I did. It really is a special place, especially if you like being outdoors and active. Everyone should come and visit!”
Living less than a mile from his studio in the busy town of Cowes, famous for it’s sailing heritage, Robert loves his local area. “Island residents and holiday-makers come and visit me from all over the Island, and some even travel over from Southampton just for a shoot. Afterwards I always advise them to take a little wander into Cowes high street and support the surrounding businesses.”
“We love to keep things local, and so a great relationship with an Island framer was key to my business story. I love printing and framing my own work, it’s very rewarding and a fun part of the photography process, and the end results are always admired and cherished by clients.”
Robert offers baby, children, family and pet portraits but also covers a few weddings per year. His studio is large and accommodating, with parking right outside and less than a 15-minute walk from the town centre. His style is instantly recognisable, and clients seem to have a great time based on the feedback he receives.
Robert told us “Being a photographer is fantastic. I work alone and so every aspect of my work is my responsibility. From cleaning the toilets right through to filing the accounts, there is never a dull moment. I have a great support network and so if things get crazy my wife will jump in to help me out. As an artist herself, she’s an expert framer!”
