Congratulations to Janet Young who has achieved her first Baby of the Month winning entry!
Her image of baby Kodi proved popular with our Public and Sponsor judging panels which means Kodi will soon receive a £50 Boots voucher, plus the chance to win £5000 in the 2023 Baby of the Year competition.
Janet owns and operates Janet Young Photography from her high-street studio in Wadebridge, Cornwall. With 40+ years of experience, she specialises in relaxed, fun portraiture capturing her client’s true personality. She caters to all types of portraiture; including family groups, pets, couples, children, and babies.
After several Top-10 finalists in the past, this is Janet’s first winning image in our competition so we took the opportunity to find out a bit more about her and her background in photography:
“I started my photography journey 40+ years ago, working as a stringer for local papers, dashing to the darkroom after cheque presentations and the odd celebrity, even a Royal ‘appointment’ when Prince Charles (as he was then) visited Newquay for a Conference. Nursery and School photography followed, and the appeal of a self-contained fully equipped studio beckoned, and I opened my first studio in 1982. Several moves later I have my ‘Forever’ studio based in a pedestrian precinct in the middle of town with parking nearby.
Baby photography forms a major part of our business and, until recently, we were only entering babies that registered for a Baby of the Month studio session, but after being inspired by the success Paul Barsby has experience in the competition, we now encourage all our clients to enter.
This has been life-changing for us – (you are never too old to learn!) and this means that we are driving more people to our Facebook page and parents love the thought that their baby might be a winner. I’ve had a couple of Top-10 Finalists are always a thrill, and great for publicity, but to be a Baby of the Month winner has “Bowled me Over”.
This is such a prestigious win, and I am so happy for Kodi and his mum Kloe as he hasn’t had the smoothest start in life, but despite his medical problems he was just the happiest of babies, and he had the best time in our studio.”

Janet did such an amazing job our photos are lovely I couldn’t have asked for any better. She knows what she’s doing especially with how to pose us for photos and with the props she used for our little one. Prices are reasonable and the photos are such high quality. Couldn’t be happier!
